Following crowdfunding success, Melbourne artist & producer, Jonny Westwood spent 6 weeks in Florida, recording his debut album, NEGATIVES.
Produced by indie music royalty, Aaron Marsh (Copeland, GLASWING, The Lulls in Traffic,), the album is intricate and expansive; with sweeping, symphonic moments and delicate vocals juxtaposed by hard-hitting drums and synths.
“In the end, NEGATIVES is just my attempt to boil down the human experience of trial and triumph. I’ve always believed that we are designed to endure and enjoy. We only truly understand the power of the light when we are surrounded by darkness.
Influenced by artists like The Paper Kites, Young the Giant and Violents, Jonny released Slowly and Phantom, these two singles displayed his ability to express parts of the thematic duality on display throughout NEGATIVES.
Opening the evening will be Young Vincent. The trio’s most recent self-titled EP ventures into a groovy mix of indie, blues, and folk, all layered with nuanced, perfectly delivered vocals.
NEGATIVES will be played from top to bottom for the first time, and perhaps the last in what is poised to be a very special evening.
A door prize, comprising of album merchandise will also be announced.
