A special one-off all star band The Wizards (with members from My Left Boot, Fluff, Sheriff and ex-Dead City Ruins) performing the best of Black Sabbath live on the Cherry stage along with support from Duneeater!
So this year marks the fiftieth since a group of aspiring musicians from Birmingham settled on the band name Black Sabbath. They’d been around for a short minute, though following lineup changes, taking their new moniker from an older horror film playing across the street from their rehearsal space and creating a sound that was the spawn of their industrial hometown, a legend was born.
Forget the need for numbers to validate (like over 70 million records sold), they are simply one of the most influential heavy metal bands of all time. One that Rolling Stone Magazine has in the past referred to as “The Beatles of Heavy Metal”. We could discuss their classic albums (with and without the Prince of Darkness fronting the group), Tommy Iommi’s workplace industry in his youth helping to create new guitar playing techniques out of necessity, the numerous bands that are influenced by the group, though let’s just leave it to a rather important musician who adores Cherry…
"The heaviest, scariest, coolest riffs and the apocalyptic Ozzy wail are without peer. You can hear the despair and menace of the working-class Birmingham streets they came from in every kick-ass, evil groove. Their arrival ground hippy, flower-power psychedelia to a pulp and set the standard for all heavy bands to come - Tom Morello (Rage Against the Machine)
See you at Cherry. And yep we thought we had to leave ur beloved basement though due to some red tape issues we’re back open down AC/DC Lane cranking amps.
