Young people in Hobsons Bay are hosting an all-ages, live music event at The Substation on Friday 24 January to raise funds for communities impacted by the current bushfire crisis.

Hobsons Bay Westside FReeZA and the Hobsons Bay Leaders of Today committee have teamed up to produce Bushfire Relief @ The Substation, a youth-led live music event which will include open mic performances and acts by young local musicians, including John Gai AKA King Jag, whose family had their own home destroyed by fire a few years ago. All proceeds from ticket sales will be donated to services supporting the bushfire relief efforts.

Young people aged 12 to 25 are invited to participate by assisting with the running of the event, registering an open mic act or contributing goods to a bake sale which will be hosted at the event.

Hobsons Bay UP youth counsellors will also be available on the night to assist young people who may be affected directly or indirectly by the bushfires.

Register for an open mic spot at www.hobsonsbay.vic.gov.au/holidayprogram. Register your interest in volunteering for the event at www.hobsonsbay.vic.gov.au/youthvolunteer
