Helen is a passionate guitarist, singer, world traveller and educator, currently involved in many musical projectsranging from jazz and improvised world music, to large scale productions, festivals and corporate entertainment. Since completing her studies in Jazz Guitar under the guidance of internationally renowned guitarist JamesSherlock, she has spent the last few years travelling the world, performing, and writing the framework for herdebut recordings. Throughout her career so far, Helen has been fortunate to have the opportunity to perform alongside some ofAustralia’s most accomplished musicians including James Morrison, Kristin Berardi, Gus Cereijo, Elly Hoyt, KatieNoonan and Emma Dean, to name a few. Helen’s current project is her debut solo EP to be released mid 2018, which features some original pieces writtenin various countries around the world. This EP features music strongly influenced by jazz and blues, as well asthe many nations and cultures around the world that she has seen, experienced and grown to love over the past few years

Kyle Taylor is a Folk musician from Australia performing at Open Studio on Sat October 6th at 2.30pm - 4.30pm with a special guest

Cariño Son is a six-piece Latin band playing traditional Cuban Guarachas, Son and Boleros. Their infectious rhythms and melodies have people dancing wherever they play. The good people of Northcote are in for a treat when Cariño Son perform at ‘Open Studio’ on Saturday 7th April. The line-up consists of double bass, congas, bongos, guitar and très, saxophone, vocals and percussion.

Funk Buddies - always a great night of live funk for your dancing pleasure . Funk Buddies are a Melbourne based 8 piece band playing down-to-earth brass driven funk. Inspired by the street bands of New Orleans, they bring in influences of 70s/80s funk acts like Tower of Power and James Brown. This month's gig with feature a handful of brand new tunes, as well as the usual dancing and mayhem.
