GLASSHOUSE is a new monthly initiative put together by guitarist Harry Tinney, as a means of reconnecting Melbourne musicians in the wake of twelve months of lockdowns and very few performance and networking opportunities. A house band comprised of guitar, keyboard, double bass and drums will run the night, and musicians (singers, horn players, guitarists, bassists, drummers, pianists etc) are invited to sit in and play jazz repertoire of their choosing.
After a full-capacity session in January, the GLASSHOUSE jam returns on February 11th, and from then on the second Thursday of each month.
There will be no set cover charge – the idea is to make the night as inclusive as possible and to enjoy hanging out and playing with other like-minded musicians. Non-musicians of course are more than welcome to sit back and enjoy a great night of music! Instead of a cover charge there will be a pay-what-you-feel donation box at the bar - the proceeds of which will go directly to the house band for their time and the use of their instruments.
Under the current Covid-19 guidelines we are trying to minimize contact - so guitarists must bring their own instruments, singers their own microphones, and drummers their own sticks. A drumkit, guitar amp, bass amp, keyboard, and PA (for vocalists) will be provided and setup on the night.
The house band for this months GLASSHOUSE session is:
Harry Tinney – guitar
Mina Yu – keyboard
Jordan Tarento – double bass
Lewis Pierre-Humbert – drums
Music kicks off at 8:00pm sharp. Doors from 7:30pm.
