From the small township of Kabokweni in Nelspruit South Africa comes, Fortune Shumba. This bold, dynamic performer, LGBTQI & women’s rights activist is on a serious mission, sending a huge middle finger to toxic patriarchy through his music and latest single TRASH! Recognised as an unapologetic voice for equality. Fortune’s music reflects a powerful activism whilst he sings and raps in English, as well as his native language Swati. TRASH! inspires femmes to empower themselves by leaving destructive relationships with men. Fed up with toxic masculinity and gender-based violence in South Africa and around the world Fortune Shumba took to the mic to get it all out.

TRASH! was produced by Vox Portent. His style of music ranges from downtempo house to African rhythms combined with ambient soundscapes that explore the boundaries of dance music. The two dynamic musos (Fortune and Vox) recorded for the first time together at the end of 2017. Since then they have created numerous tracks that will be released later in the year. “When you meet a producer like Vox, you hold on to them. You get married to them, actually. When meeting him we clicked instantly! We were speaking the same language and musically he got me. All my crazy ideas, he would help me bring them to life…” Fortune Shumba
