Come on down to the Tote on Thursday the 5th of May to help Dom Brinkley and Jeronimo Sanchez launch their new lovechild/single ‘(Until I Can’t) Go No More’.
Having met while studying in Melbourne in the pre-pandemic, early part of 2020, Melbourne-born artist Dom Brinkley and Mexico City-born artist Jeronimo Sanchez instantly connected through their shared love of psychedelia and folk music, from classic albums like the Beatles’ ‘Rubber Soul’ to Pink Floyd’s ‘Piper at the Gates of Dawn’, through to Nick Drake’s ‘Pink Moon’.
When Jeronimo had to return home to Mexico City before the first wave of lockdown took hold of Melbourne, the connection was not lost and the two creatives shared song ideas and lyrics across continents.
Now, Dom and Jeronimo are very proud to share the fruits of this collaboration in the form of a new single. Striking a beautiful balance between both Dom and Jeronimo’s musical styles, the melancholic yet optimistic track was inspired by different yet shared experiences of life after lockdown, with hopeful lyrics about letting go of anxiety and negativity, reconnecting with fellow humans and exploring this beautiful planet while we can.
We hope you enjoy our new song as much as we did making it.
Kicking off the night will be three-piece Gecko. Inspired by fundamentals of funk, punk and jazz along with their chaotic energy, the Geck girls are the most kickass rhythm section that shares their name with a lizard. Listen as they scream, wail and soothingly deliver the raw emotions of their unique tunes; that are beneath it all quirky and fun.
