Postpunk power trio Die! Die! Die! return to Melbourne for the first time in 2 years with a vengeance launchin O, a fireblast of an EP. O is the band’s tenth record and their first since the 2017 LP Charm. Offensive. To celebrate they return to Australia for an East Coast Tour

The new EP marks two returns for the New Zealand band, in personnel and in music. Longtime Die! Die! Die! bassist Lachlan Anderson has rejoined after an eight year hiatus, making this the first recording by this incarnation of the band since their 2011 LP Harmony. In addition to Anderson being back, so is the band’s rougher side. In their catalog of 80-plus songs Die! Die! Die!’s unique take on post-punk has tacked back and forth from percussive noise rock a la Shellac to a melodic wall of sound in the neighborhood of My Bloody Valentine, with occasional glimpses of power pop akin to the later Bob Mould. The general tendency over Die! Die! Die!’s

O feels urgent and frenetic. You won’t be able to sit still while it plays. And if you already struggle to sit still in your skin, Die! Die! Die! offer a soundtrack that reminds you that you’re not wrong and you’re not alone.
