Davey Lane has been honing his craft, on stages and in studios Australia and world wide, for quite a while now – working with artists such as Crowded House, Jimmy Barnes, Todd Rundgren, The Saints as well as legendary Australian rock group You Am I, with whom he has been standing stage right on lead guitar since 1999. Years of learning from many local and international songwriting greats have seen Davey himself grow in turn as a songwriter, with a smart pop sensibility, a keen ear for a euphoric chorus and a surreal turn of phrase.

Some songwriters arrive almost fully formed and make their great record when they are 20. Lane took the long way around but all that experience has been brought into focus on his third solo album, Don’t Bank Your Heart On It releasing November 13.

It truly signals his arrival as a masterful songwriter and singer to match his musical skills. He has done it with an album that features some of his great musical allies, from Barnes, Rundgren and his You Am I bandmate Tim Rogers, to Vika & Linda Bull, English songwriter Robyn Hitchcock, psych maven Stu Mackenzie of King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard and Tommy Stinson of The Replacements.
