Calling all citizen scientists! We need YOU to help Melbourne compete in the global City Nature Challenge, from 29 April to 2 May 2022. All you need is a smartphone and the free iNaturalist app.

During the four-day challenge, simply snap a photo of a plant or animal and upload it to the iNaturalist app.You don’t have to be an expert to get involved. We need everyone to help show the world the incredible biodiversity of Melbourne! .

Your observations will automatically contribute to Melbourne’s tally, as we compete with cities all over the world to gain the most observations. Your observation also added to the Atlas of Living Australia

database of plants and animals, helping scientists with their research to improve outcomes for our environment.
