Synthotronica is the alter-ego of award-winning artist, composer and multi-instrumentalist Ania Reynolds, who has performed her original music across five continents, been the Musical Director for the likes of Circus Oz and Yothu Yindi and the Treaty Project, shared a saxophone solo duet with Femi Kuti and played baritone sax hanging upside down at the National Theatre in London. Her live performance has been described as a ‘stunning display of musicality’ (Nicole Precel, SMH 2019). Ania’s rich and diverse career as a composer and musician has seen her score over 50 theatre works, develop her own award-winning audiovisual practice, attend international artist residencies and perform in bands in genres ranging from Afrobeat to reggae to surf rock to electronica. These influences and experience come together in her all-original solo act Synthotronica, where she performs a repertoire of high energy upbeat electronic compositions featuring Afrobeat, glitch hop, dub reggae, Steampunk swing, Cumbia and more with live baritone sax and triangle.
