UK Bex Marshall’s guitar playing combines slide, blues rock with electric ragtime and roots pickin’. Her voice a powerful melting pot of old black woman’s heartache and rock diva soul. European Blues Awards nominations - best solo acoustic artist 2015/16/17/18. Award recipient UK Blues Awards 2013 best female blues artist, best blues album.

Born Devon, based London, the product of blueblooded gentry and Irish Romany families. As a child her musician uncles played and stood her on the table to sing. At 11 she was given a 1963 Gibson Hummingbird.

“There’s not many female players doin’ what I’m doin’. A mixture of ragtime, slide and bluegrass with loads of lead licks kickin’ in, so I’m playing two time signatures simultaneously. I have bass lines going on while my percussive beat is slappin’ the strings. Mentors include Memphis Minnie, Sister Rosetta Tharpe and Janis Joplin.

Bex was guest JANIS (‘Joplin’) with Big Brother and the Holding Company 2014, sang with Darby Slick as the voice of Grace Slick (Jefferson Airplane) 2018. Bex has played major fests worldwide – including Europe, USA, Brazil, Russia, Oz.
