Bakers Daughter (aka Alyce Platt) has returned, but for this artist, everything is new! She is Melbourne born singer-songwriter, musician, better known for her iconic TV shows..

Catapulted from the suburban jungleof the 80s into a ubiquitous television career, Bakers Daughter highlights stories and observations from growing up in the suburbs to living in St. Kilda with super hero’s, cowboys in the attic and the KGB.

Stumbling through obstacles of self-doubt and paranoia she is not afraid to confront the darker side of life. Her indie-pop music is a pastiche of original and nostalgic sounds wrapped around lyrics of love, loss, friends and strangers witha depth and melancholy that can suddenly turn around and become oblique, uplifting tunes with haunting melodies and dreamy soundscapes.

You could say Alyce has been moonlighting as an Australian television icon but today her song writing and the calibre of musicians who come together to record and perform her music is something special.A diverse roster of Melbourne’s elite musicians who play on Alyce’srecordings alsofeature in her stunning live band – Clare Moore – vibes and tuned percussion, Stephen Hadley – bass and Peter Farnan- guitar.

Like the artist herself, Bakers Daughter’s songs are defiant and sophisticated. They reveal a fascination with 60s European pop, peppered with spoken word delivered in the Gainsbourg..kind of way..

Alyce recently provided the soundtrack to the indie feature documentary Journey Beyond Fear about an Afghani refugee family.

Reframing her past, Bakers Daughter presents her original music and artistic pursuits through the lens of the Indie-pop artist she is so highly regarded as by her peers and critics alike.

Going beyond stereotypical beliefs and smashing the flaws of perception, Bakers Daughter brings to life, tales from her deep dark past drawing on her extensive life experiences and some of these might even be true.

Alyce has just returned from Tunisia where she took part in 2019 Australian women in Arts and business delegation. She performed with local musicians and wrote and recorded ideas for songs in a local Hammam. She plans to return at a later date to complete this exciting project.

Bakers Daughter is currently recording a new record due for release early next year. Alyce, Clare, Peter and Stephen have just returned from their successful season of shows at Festival of Voices in Hobart where they received critical acclaim.
