FREE ONLINE EVENT:
Our experience of art goes beyond aesthetics and theory, tapping into our emotional and sensory responses and reflecting what we see into how we feel. NGV curators with guests share their favourite works from the NGV Collection that they turn to for hope, that bring a sense of joy, that bring us back to the present moment and bring a calming influence on our minds.

Poster design can be a medium to promote powerful messages that offer hope for a better future.

NGV curator Annika Aitken explores Japanese posters from the 1980s which were first designed for the Hiroshima Peace Appeals. She is joined by artist Peter Drew who will speak to a work in the NGV Collection that inspires hope for him, as well as discussing how hope manifests in his own creative practice.

Peter Drew’s recognisable Aussie posters can be found in streets throughout Australia’s major cities and a selection have recently been acquired by the NGV.
