Three-piece Gippsland-Melbourne band Anne Simmons & the Bitter Shush teams delicate vocals with a rocking rhythm section provided by Gaetano Valenzisi and Anton Zalewski.

Folk-rock singer Anne Simmons lives in a small former forestry town, has a unique dynamic voice, and her genre is hard to pinpoint. Her music can have a ‘60s and ‘70s feel, with soul, country, and jazz influences.

‘Peter Hits the Drums’ is the second single from Anne Simmons & the Bitter Shush, recorded by Nao Anzai. It follows their debut single, ‘Do I Lift You Up’, released in late-2023. ‘Peter Hits The Drums’ explores enthusiasm and drive, and the absence of it. Anne is observing, or imagining, this kind of energy as an outsider, who had lost a sense of daily routine and connections.

Melbourne/Naarm band Malibu Spacey makes music that’s all jangly 12 string acoustic guitars, intricate lead lines, three-part vocal harmonies and noodly bass grooves. The sound takes pieces of 70s country rock, folk and dreamy indie rock, fitting somewhere in the world of artists like Cass McCombs and Angel Olsen.
