Al Matcott @ Last Chance Rock n Roll Bar
w/ The Hot Blood & Leo
Al Matcott has grown from playing Melbourne’s shadier haunts into an artist undeniably on the rise. Releasing his music for the first time in 2021, after spending the better part of the past five years cutting his teeth and perfecting his craft, the Melbourne singer-songwriter's fuzzy brand of alternative-rock and Kurt Vile-esque drawl has garnered international praise from CLASH, The Indie Scene and Radio X - plus local tastemakers Tone Deaf, Pilerats, Trouble Juice, RRR, PBS and Double J.
Recently, Al Matcott shared new single ‘Now It’s Over’ - a haze-drenched track about the emotional chaos of going back for more during a messy breakup, alongside announcing a run of headline east coast shows.
While upbeat in its bright melody and warm production, ‘Now It’s Over’ is stinging in its lyricism: ‘it's over, and I hate you’. It’s bittersweet, and an all-too-real depiction of the confusing nature of breakups.
