BRUNSWICK ARTISTS' BAR // DOORS 8PM // SHOW 8.30PM
A Man Called Son (AMCS) is the ongoing project of Simon Pearlman. Conceived in Brisbane (Australia), Simon initially created AMCS as a home studio project. After a relocation to Melbourne and various lineups over the years, the current incarnation is Simon (guitars/vox/keyboards and other instruments), Sam James (Guitars), Thomas Madden (bass) and James Rance (drums/percussion). Third album 'No Maps' was released in late 2016 and received strong community radio airplay. After some time off writing new songs and the reshuffling of personnel, AMCS began recording new material in 2019. The melancholy atmosphere of first single 'What We Had' was released in November 2020. AMCS finally released another single in late 2021. The upbeat ditty 'Plateau' is from the forthcoming album 'Time Bombs in the Sea'.
"With nods to the likes of Hoodoo Gurus, The Go-Betweens and The Church, ‘Plateau’ is a delightful near-four-minute journey of summery, upbeat rock, championed by intricate guitar melodies, endearing vocals, energetic percussion and incredibly tight musicianship." (Beat Magazine).
Catch A Man Called Son when they play at the Brunswick Artists Bar on 21 May with the irrepressible indie rock four piece Van Berg and the dreamy, divine tones of Nausicaa.
