Melbourne Techno Collective is the longest running event series in Melbourne (if not Australia) and, for the past 18 years, has expanded beyond the original five friends that just wanted to hang out and play music into an institution unto itself.
Born in the basement of the now gone iconic Mercat Cross, Melbourne Techno Collective has run events all across the city during the last 18 years – from the Espy to Brown Alley and all that’s in between.
Over the years, the collective has transitioned from a weekly night with local artists to a monthly showcases hosting some of the biggest names in the industry and in recent years found a home at New Guernica. This location has a strong history with Melbourne party goers as it was the location of the infamous F4 nightclub and later was completely transformed into New Guernica complete with a kitchen for a side room and Willy Wonka-esque wallpaper.
