No Turning Back
It’s been 30 years this month since the Close the Gap protests. On this edition of Max Headroom, Judith Peppard presents ‘No Turning Back’, a documentary about the Sand Dragons - 6 women who drove to Alice Springs to join the protests and urge the Australian government to end the US lease on Pine Gap, a joint US/ Australian military defence facility rife with highly sensitive information.
Judith is also joined by Richard Tanter, the President of the Australian Board of ICAN (The International Campaign to Abolish Nuclear Weapons). Richard discusses how Pine Gap has grown since 1987, the possibility of it being a high priority soviet missile target and its principle function as a research centre for battlefield operations.
