Why You Should Check Out Rah! Rah!: a Showcase of Melbourne Feminist Punk

From The Wet Ones to Rock n’ Roll High School to Girls Rock!, Melbourne has a lengthy history of showcasing the most creative and fearless feminist punk and DIY music. On this week’s Maps fill-in host Sara Savage joins co-organisers Janelle Johnston and Grace Kindellan to talk about Rah! Rah!, an upcoming event celebrating the best in Melbourne female, femme and non-binary music from the past 30 years. As well as describing the ins and outs of the night (which will include performances, panel discussions and an interactive photography installation in a makeshift toilet stall), Grace and Janelle also touch on their own experiences making music in Melbourne and the importance of celebrating your history.
