Uncle Bruce Pascoe Discusses Australia’s True History on The Mission
Australian history has painted Indigenous people as hunter-gatherers, almost completely ignoring the agricultural knowledge and farming systems, which were in place well before the arrival of Europeans. Bruce Pascoe, Indigenous writer from the Bunurong clan, joins The Mission to discuss his new book Young Dark Emu. Following on from his award-winning book Dark Emu, the new book is dedicated to the youth of Australia. Bruce wanted to give our children another account of Australian history using information that is readily available but has been denied to the majority of Australians. Bruce explains that understanding the true history helps to heal our relationship with the land and that employing Indigenous knowledge could help us manage our environment successfully in the future.
