The Legacy of Nuclear Testing on Uncommon Sense

On Uncommon Sense, fill-in host Toby Halligan speaks to Swinburne PhD candidate and co-founder of ICAN (International Campaign to Abolish Nuclear weapons) Dimity Hawkins, who has authored a report on the everlasting consequences of nuclear weapons testing in Australia and the Pacific. From generational longevity of the waste to the ongoing and substantial health issues that have arisen, Dimity re-examines not only what transpired over the 318 tests that took place between 1946 and 1996, but also honours the stories of the locals to give them voice.
