The Glasshouse: Portrait Writing with Maxine Beneba Clarke

Celebrated writer Maxine Beneba Clarke (The Hate Race, Foreign Soil) visits The Glasshouse to discuss her newest book, The Saturday Portraits. A collection of biographical portraits of various personalities she’s written for The Saturday Paper over the last four years, The Saturday Portraits features profiles of Uncle Jack Charles, Sampa the Great, Ai Weiwei, and many more. She tells Beth AQ about her methodology, doing on the page what an artist would do on a canvas, and knowing what story she wants to tell and how she wants to tell it.

The Saturday Portraits is out via Hachette.
