The Glasshouse: An American Exploration of Feminism and Ambition
How long would you put your life on hold if your spouse was wrongfully incarcerated for 12 years? Beth AQ has a chat with American novelist Tayari Jones, whose fourth novel – An American Marriage – recently won the 2019 Women’s Prize for Fiction. In town for Melbourne Writers Festival, Tayari discusses the book’s central examination of the toll the American justice system takes on black Americans, societal expectations of feminism and ambition, and writing respectfully and honestly about the American South.
