The Distant Sky: Behind The Language And Culture That Inspire Kardajala Kirridarra

Ahead of a run of spring shows, Eleanor and Beatrix from Kardajala Kirridarra drop by The Distant Sky. Translating to “Sandhill Women’, the band’s name recalls the name of the woman from the sandhills behind the band’s home community of Marlinja and their songs are sung in a mixture of English and the local language Mudburra. Eleanor and Beatrix chat with Kate about their upcoming shows and how singing in Mudburra allows them to explore themes of “women, language and culture” with nuance and specificity.
