Teenage Hate: Polyester Records Owner Simon Karis Discusses The Iconic Record Store’s Closure

All good things… For nearly 40 years Polyester Records has stood sentry on Fitzroy’s Brunswick Street, supporting and selling interesting local music. Sadly, the news has emerged that, at the end of March 2020, Polyester – along with its adjoining bar in the back, Crazy Arms Bar – will close its doors for good. Simon Karis, who’s run the storied shop for the last decade, visits Teenage Hate’s Christina Pap to chat about Polyester’s history, the philosophy of championing local bands and, of course, what events and parties to expect in the last couple of months of Polyester.
