Playwright and performer Jo Clifford joins Richard on SmartArts to talk about her revolutionary and long overdue play, The Gospel According to Jesus, Queen of Heaven.

The Gospel According to Jesus, Queen of Heaven, is described by Jo herself as “a tribute to Jesus”. It delves into the complexities and truths of being human, with a strong focus Christianity’s message of love, and acceptance for all regardless of sexuality or gender.

Having performed the original season, Jo discusses with Richard about her experience of writing for other performers, and how they can deliver their own interpretations of the role. Backed by a four piece live choir, the fortyfivedownstairs production features Kristen Smyth as Queen Jesus.

The Gospel According to Jesus, Queen of Heaven is on now at fortyfivedownstairs until 29th of January.
