Reflecting the True Stories of the African Diaspora on The Rap

Quick! Close your eyes and think of Africa. What comes to mind? Starving children? Gun-toting warlords? Tin-pot dictators wearing aviator shades? Kholisile Dhliwayo, architect and head curator for the Afro Urban Collective, wants to change all that. Through art, dance, fashion, photography, and, yes, architecture, the Collective strives to show the true reality of living in Africa. ‘There’s a whole lot more going on than what you see in the popular imagination,’ he tells Areej Nur.
