Interview
Radiotherapy: Inside the Loops of OCD and Body Dysmorphia
Dr Nicola Acevedo joins Dr Kit Kat and Dr Nick to discuss the neurological patterns underlying obsessive-compulsive disorder and body dysmorphic disorder.
Drawing on her work with people experiencing severe OCD, Nicola looks at what happens when intrusive thoughts become impossible to dismiss, and how brain-stimulation therapies may interrupt these deeply entrenched cycles. The conversation then turns to body dysmorphia, a condition capable of causing profound distress around perceived physical defects.
Nicola also discusses emerging psychedelic-assisted therapies, and why the difficult work of preparation and integration matters as much as the treatment itself.
