Radio Marinara Discusses Steps for the Great Barrier Reef’s Future

Stewart Christie joins Bron and Dr Beach to discuss the work he has been involved in to help ensure the Great Barrier Reef’s future survival. As CEO of the Cairns-based not-for-profit Reef Restoration Foundation, Stewart has recently concluded the first full cycle of a newly implemented restoration program that saw 100 new corals being planted on a damaged part of the reef at Fitzroy Island. Regenerating high value reefs through the establishment of ocean-based nurseries, Stewart sheds light on the process of collecting, growing and planting coral imperative to the program’s success.

To get involved, people can adopt a coral or make donations via the foundation’s website. You can also learn more by visiting them on Facebook and Instagram.
