Amy and Gus from fast-rising local punk band Amyl and the Sniffers join Mon during Out On The Patio to chat about how such a high-energy band are coping with life in lockdown. The answer might surprise you. “I’m living my best life,” Gus says. “I ate a burger and chips and now I’m doing f--- all!”
Amy is going through the motions, too: “Sometimes I just want to punch the wall and other times, it’s all right [...] But today, I just sat in bed eating peanut butter toast and lollies [...] Some days I run heaps and do push-ups and yell!”
The band have just released their new album, Comfort To Me, which has brought a rare happiness to them after a rough couple of years. It’s short, fast and loud – but shot through with Amy’s openness and honesty. “It’s been so nice to have something to celebrate and feel proud of,” she says.
