On The Blower: Inside The Cartoonish World Of Fred Negro
Musician. Cartoonist. Movie star? Legendary Melbournian barfly Fred Negro makes the leap to the big screen in the new documentary celebrating his life and art, Pub: The Movie. Perhaps best known for his long running street press comic strip Pub, Fred Negro has been a fixture of the Melbourne music scene for over four decades, designing posters and playing in bands with unprintable names. Director Andrew Leavold (The Search for Weng Weng) drops by On The Blower to chat about the doc, which collects Fred’s family, friends and enemies together to paint a picture of a man known to many as the ‘unofficial mayor of St Kilda.'
Pub: The Movie is playing as part of the Melbourne International Film Festival.
