Off the Record: Mark Seymour Talks About How His New Album ‘Slow Dawn’ Came Together
When Mark Seymour started writing songs a few years ago he didn't even know he was writing an album. “I kept getting these hints from my manager,” Mark says on Off The Record. “I wasn’t really thinking about making a record. I mean, I was sort of writing songs, but vaguely. I wasn’t really fired up about it, at that point.”
For his new record, Slow Dawn, the former Hunters & Collectors frontman enlisted the help of veteran producer Nick Didia, who has worked with a string of legendary artists like Bruce Springsteen, Pearl Jam and Powderfinger. “We just really hit it off. He’s a very dry, ironic kind of bloke. Likes to call a spade a spade [...] The thing is, I just think I'm at a stage in my life now where I just don't want to leave any stones unturned when I record songs. I’m not interested in half-measures or guesswork.”
Slow Dawn is available now through Bloodlines.
