Neon Sunset: Rainy Days And Blue Skies With Shannon & The Clams
After a couple of years between drinks, Oakland garage rock quartet Shannon & the Clams return with their fifth album Year of the Spider. The record sees the band elevating Bee Gees-inspired harmonies and “spooky haunted folk” into their usual doo-wop-infused rock n' roll whilst also drawing on personal tragedy and upheaval to infuse the album with an inviting darkness. Shannon Shaw and Cody Blanchard from the band join Annaliese on Neon Sunset to chat about the musical influences on the record, how the last year has changed their appreciation for music, and just which of the Seven Dwarves the record would be (spoilers: it’s Doc).
