Neon Sunset: Looking Back At The Indie Rock Revival With ‘Meet Me In The Bathroom’ Author Lizzy Goodman
Ahead of the release of the film adaptation of Lizzy Goodman’s scintillating alt-rock oral history Meet Me In The Bathroom, Annaliese talks to the book’s author Lizzy Goodman about “the last romantic age of rock’n’roll.”
The pair look back at early-00s NYC, and discuss what it was about that moment and that city that kick-started a worldwide indie rock revival. Goodman reflects on her time working in a restaurant with The Strokes' Nick Valensi and how his band almost single-handedly became the catalyst for the rebirth of NYC's music scene, from which so many artists - including Interpol, Yeah Yeah Yeahs and LCD Soundsystem - were born.
Meet Me in the Bathroom is in cinemas March 16. Subscribers can head here for a chance to win a double pass to a special RRR screening of the film on March 15.
