Despite Aboriginal people only representing 0.8 per cent of Victoria’s population, Indigenous kids make up 19.5 per cent of children under the state’s youth justice supervision. The recently released Ngaga-dji Report, commissioned by the Koorie Youth Council, seeks to address this disparity, and the social and cultural factors that have contributed to it. Executive Officer Indi Clarke joins Breakfasters to talk about the report and its aim to ensure that all Aboriginal children grow up with the strong support of their culture, family and community.
