Frantic Items: Heavy Rocks With Boris
Boris are back in town! It has been 30 years since the band formed and 20 years since the release of their first Heavy Rocks album. What better time to return to the manic riffs and screams with the third edition of Heavy Rocks coming out in August, dowsed in leopard print. Charlie speaks to percussionist Atsuo from his home in Tokyo about the band's precise approach to the technical and cultural components of musical style, which has varied wildly across their career. A Boris concert is an experience for all the senses, Atsuo keen to identify the physical vibrations created by dropping deep into low frequencies.
Boris perform at Max Watts in Melbourne on June 10. Thank you to Satoshi Sanada for the interview's translation.
