The Story Behind ‘A Ghost in My Suitcase’ on SmartArts

A Ghost in My Suitcase is a theatre production based on the award-winning children’s book by Gabrielle Wang. It’s the story of a young girl who travels to China and discovers her grandmother’s unusual and magical world. The work traverses memory, culture and identity, as well as grief, loss, love and the unique way children perceive their most important relationships. Co-director Felix Ching Ching Ho and author Gabrielle Wang join Richard Watts to discuss their collaborative process and the ‘dream come true’ of seeing Gabrielle’s story take on an exciting new life on stage. Catch the world premier of A Ghost in My Suitcase at Melbourne International Arts Festival.
