Get Down Turns 10 With Guest Emma Volard
Although it feels like no-one has come to his party, Chris Gill reflects on the last 10 years of making the world a funkier place. Phillip Island local and nu-soul vocalist Emma Volard joins Chris’ party from the front porch of her Dad’s pub to chat about what’s coming up for her and the most inspirational soul songs in her life. She says that growing up in Carlton North until the age of 14 and then moving to Philip Island really helped to shape her music and inspirations. She moved into the funky sounds of soul when she turned 18 and hasn’t looked back. Although she is taking this time to chill out, she dropped a brand-new single online yesterday. The single, “Respire”, was made with the help of her two best mates. They grabbed a slab of beer and let their emotions flow, discussing heartbreak, growing up and making mistakes. Emma has also exciting news that she been working hard on her debut album and is set to release it sometime in the next few months.
