Future Perfect: Mark Cully On Australia's History Of Immigration

Mark Cully was chief economist for the Department of Immigration and Citizenship and the Department of Industry, and joins Dylan to chat about his new book Waves of Plenty: Immigration and the Making of Australia.

Mark and Dylan discuss the issues, changes and possible solutions to some of the problems surrounding migration in Australia, including some of the upcoming changes to Australia's migration policy just announced at the National Press Club.

Talking to the public's contemporary concerns, trends in historic polling and Australia's diverse culture, Mark frames migration at the centre of Australia's colonial history and explores its long and at times fraught history.

Mark will be appearing at The Wheeler Centre on Tuesday 22 September for 'Who Gets to Define Australian Culture?'
