Frantic Items: Ayden Mayeri Tells The Story Of X-Cetra

Back in 2000, four friends in elementary school released an album under the name X-Cetra with the intention of being the next girl group pop stars. Actor and director Ayden Mayeri tells the story of her childhood group, from their initial disorientated reaction to the recording, to the surprise online resurgence of their music in recent years. The making of the documentary provided a rare chance for the friends to reunite in California, reflecting on the prolific artistic pursuits of their youth and channelling that spark into new collaborations as adults.

Summer 2000: The X-Cetra Story is screening at Melbourne International Film Festival on August 13, 15 and 23.
