Off The Record: Elvis Costello Reunites With The Imposters On ‘The Boy Named If’
Like most of us, Elvis Costello has had a very interrupted couple of years. Having released his last album Hey Clockface in 2020, Costello found himself with some time on his hands after having tours repeatedly postponed. Alongside an EP of Spanish-language songs, an Armed Forces box set and various collaborations, Costello set to work on recording a new album with The Imposters, The Boy Named If.
In the first part of his chat with Off The Record, Costello discusses the experience of recording the album remotely, noting, “We might have played with less inhibition because we were alone.” Costello and Brian also chat about his return to the live stage and the reasons behind his sudden burst of productivity.
