Interview

CEO Kate Torney On The Revamped State Library

State Library of Victoria’s CEO Kate Torney joins Sarah, Daniel and Geraldine to talk about the recently completed $60 million transformation. She says the reopened Domed Reading Room is really spectacular but the discovery of a pair of workman’s boots in the foundations of the building has been especially lovely. ‘It was a tradition back in the day to leave a pair of boots behind upon the completion of a building so it was a really lovely find and they’re now in permanent collection’.

Kate also tells the Breakfasters she is keen to hear from creative people who might want to get involved in the Library’s new entrepreneurship programs, StartSpace and Foundry658, commencing in 2020. You can get more info on this at the SLV website.
