Field Notes: Celebrating Zine Culture with Festival of the Photocopier

Festival of the Photocopier Zine Fair is a massive zine fair that takes place in Melbourne each year. A highlight of Melbourne’s art calendar, the festival is now located at the Meat Market to accommodate for its size. Since its humble beginnings in 2008, the event has grown with over 450 stalls over two days. The kicker is that it is all free – free for people to sell their zines and free for people to come and have a look. Luke from The Sticky Institute joins Field Notes summer hosts Izzy Roberts-Orr and Khalid Warsame (filling in for The Glasshouse) to chat about running the Festival of the Photocopier, and watching the style and quality of zines progress over the years. Ashley Ronning from Helio Press also tells us about the rising popularity of riso printing zines.
