Pete Kember aka Sonic Boom, speaks to Lauren following the release A ? of When, his second album in collaboration with Panda Bear (Noah Lennox). A stalwart of electronic pop music, Pete has produced albums for Beach House, MGMT and was also a founding member of Spaceman 3.

Commenting on modes of creativity in the iPhone age, and the decision not to release the album on streaming services, Pete credits radio stations and record stores for their roles in the sharing and discovery of new music. He wants to keep things "IRL rather than URL".

Trying to "amuse and stimulate" themselves, the upbeat sounds on the album reflect Pete and Noah's friendship, as much as their collaboration. They recorded the project with hope for the future and positivity in mind, and cite Jamaican music from the 60s and 70s as a major influence.
