Breaking And Entering: Behind Automatic’s Sci-Fi-Influenced Second Album Excess

LA-based post punk trio Automatic have just released their second record Excess - an album that plays with both science fiction dystopias and '80s capitalist culture to create an icy sonic mix of new-wave guitar sounds.

Lola from the group calls into Breaking & Entering to have a chat about the record, Released through Stones Throw, the eclectic LA label run by DJ and record collector Peanut Butter Wolf.

Fresh from a European tour with Parquet Courts and Tame Impala, Lola chats to Lauren about the “sprint-style” recording process and dives into the distinctive visual style of the album, including the record’s striking cover art.
