Geographer Dr. Gemma Sou talks to Breakfasters about collaborating with climate change experts from around the world to make Everyday Stories of Climate Change - a free comic for kids, teachers, and the general public about the lived experience of the climate emergency.
Dr. Sou tells Breakfasters about the gap in climate change education curriculums, and the ethics gap in representing citizens in places experiencing disaster. She says climate change education doesn’t cover the social, cultural and psychological impacts of living with climate change, and the comic aims to present more complex, nuanced and human-centred stories.
Dr. Sou also talks about her delight in artist Cat Sims coming on board to illustrate the work.
