Backstory: My Year of Living Vulnerably With Rick Morton
The ideas of touch, loneliness, animals, masculinity, trauma, colonialism, and the necessity of love run throughout the pages of Rick Morton’s new book My Year Of Living Vulnerably. Backstory host Mel Cranenburgh chats to Rick, who says that book took shape after his diagnosis with complex PTSD and combines both memoir and journalism. He's used this combination of style from a young age and says he often uses his own family upbringing as a lens for his work. He also says that although the topics can be dark, he keeps a sense of humor and levity in his writing for both himself and to make topics more accessible to readers.
