Celebrating The Big Issue’s 15th Fiction Edition, deputy editor Kathrine Smyrk chats to Backstory host Mel about the curating of another bumper issue of short stories penned by established and emerging writers.

Kathrine reveals the relief and pleasure involved in the entire editing process, and is joined by notable Melbourne authors Mark Brandi (The Rip) and Alison Evans (Highway Bodies), who’ve contributed stories for this edition – and discuss the challenges inherent in writing ‘bloody good short fiction’.
