ALL CAPS: The Shifting Narrative on Palestine with Jeanine Hourani
Jeanine Hourani is a Palestinian activist, campaigner, and storyteller. She is also the director of ‘Road to Refuge’ which is an organisation that helps refugees and asylum seekers tell their stories. She joins Areej on ALL CAPS to chat about the changing narrative surrounding Palestine.
Jeanine says that the visibility of the movement in mainstream media has shifted this year, as we now have access to social media and can see what is happening on the ground. Because of this she says important links are being made between Israel and other apartheid and colonial regimes which people can relate to. Jeanine also discusses the importance of the BDS (boycott, divestment, and sanctions) movement for freedom, justice and equality and what people can do to learn more about the Palestinian BDS movement.
